Profiling inhibitors of bacterial glutaminyl cyclases as drug prototypes of novel periodontal therapeutics – PInParo
Goals of the project are the preclinical development and characterization of novel drug prototypes for the treatment of periodontitis. This involves the route scouting, optimization and up-scaling of chemical synthesis for potential drug candidates in accordance to appropriate regulatory guidelines (GMP). In conjunction with the project partner several pre-clinical tests will be established, including bioavailability and toxicity.
The project, which started on February 2nd, 2022, will run until December 31st, 2022, and is funded by the German Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The financial means are part of the REACT-EU („Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe“) program. It supports the crisis response and crisis repair mechanisms regarding the COVID-19-pandemic and its social impact, as well as investments in operations contributing to preparing a green, digital and resilient recovery of the economy.
